Abstract In this research, the deep drawing dies are designed by using a "computer - aided designed calculating system" to save time and facilitate the design process. Also finite elements method (F EM) is used to simulate the drawing process to select the best die design.
Drawing dies transform flat sheets of metal into cups, shells, or other drawn shapes by subjecting the material to severe plastic deformation. For instance, a rather deep shell has been drawn from a flat sheet, as shown in the illustration. In swaging operations, drawn shells or tubes are reduced in diameter for a portion of their lengths.
A die designer originates and designs dies employed to stamp and form parts from sheet metal, assemble parts together, and perform a variety of other operations. After a die has been designed on tracing paper, blueprints or ozalid prints are produced for use in the die shop where the dies are built.
