The challenges of large-scale energy storage application in power systems are presented from the aspect of technical and economic considerations. Meanwhile the development prospect of global energy storage market is forecasted, and application prospect of energy storage is analyzed.
Application scenarios of energy storage technologies are reviewed, taking into consideration their impacts on power generation, transmission, distribution and utilization. The general status in different applications is outlined and summarized.
3.2. Pumped Hydro Storage PHS, also known as pumped storage power generation, is by far the most widely used large-scale, large-capacity energy storage technology in the world.
