SGN to deliver £29.9m national strategic hydrogen transmission and storage project | SGN Your gas. Our network. We've secured funding of £29.9m to test the use of high-pressure pipelines for hydrogen transmission and storage as an option for net zero heating.
Part of the National Hydrogen Programme is to ‘define the role of the LTS in system transformation and facilitating industrial clusters’. With Scotland and the UK targeting net zero by 2045 and 2050 respectively, SGN is preparing the gas network for greener alternatives like hydrogen.
Hydrogen Transport and Storage Business Models: we set our intention for the first allocation round to open in 2024 with an initial ambition to support up to 2 geological storage projects at scale and associated regional pipeline infrastructure to be in construction or operation by 2030.
