Commissioning is a required process in the start-up of an energy storage system. This gives the owner assurance that the system performs as specified. A Commissioning Plan prepared and followed by the project team can enable a straightforward and timely process, ensuring safe and productive operation following handoff.
The Energy Management System uses and controls all the en- ergy resources (solar, wind, load, grid, BESS, EV charger) to optimize the energy consumption. Several points to include when building the contract of an Energy Storage System: • Description of components with critical tech- nical parameters:power output of the PCS, ca- pacity of the battery etc. • Quality standards:list the standards followed by the PCS, by the Battery pack, the battery cell di- rectly in the contract.
Build PV and storage systems to relevant standards, such as IEEE 937: Recommended Practice for Installation and Maintenance of Lead-Acid Batteries for Photovoltaic (PV) Systems (IEEE 2007).
Include decommissioning in the PV O&M plan and/or asset management. The residential and small commercial O&M focus is on fleet performance goals rather than individual systems; meeting performance warranties of individual systems to meet customer satisfaction goals should be balanced against cost and cash-flow optimization.
