This application note discusses board level electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), from component selection, circuit design, to printed circuit board layout. Electromagnetic interference (EMI) is a major problem in modern electronic circuits.
This research is crucial for ensuring electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), evaluating electromagnetic interference issues, optimizing machine design, and complying with EMC standards.
Electromagnetic compatibility. 2. Electronic circuits--Noise. 3. Digital electronics. 4. Shielding (Electricity) I. Title. “For every difficult problem there is always a simple answer and most of them are wrong.”
According to IEC 61000-1-1 , ―Electromagnetic compatibility is the ability of an equipment or system to function satisfactorily in its electromagnetic environment without introducing intolerable electromagnetic disturbances to anything in that environment.‖
Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineering started out being a third edition to my previous book Noise Reduction Techniques in Electronic Systems, but it turned out to be much more than that, hence, the title change. Nine of the original twelve chapters were completely rewritten.
The compatibility level for an electromagnetic disturbance is a reference value used to compare equipment emission and immunity. From the compatibility level, an emission limit and an immunity limit are defined. The immunity limit is higher than or equal to the compatibility level.
