Field has three operational battery storage projects at Oldham (20 MW / 20 MWh), Gerrards Cross (20 MW / 20 MWh) and Newport (20 MW / 40 MWh), with seven more in construction or pre-construction stages totalling 450 MW / 1 GWh.
EDP Renewables remains dedicated to advancing energy efficiency on a global scale. In its updated Business Plan for 2023-2026, the company aims to achieve a storage capacity of over 500 MW, primarily through co-located assets, with a smaller portion consisting of stand-alone assets such as the recently acquired project.
The project is a two-hour (500MWh) duration system and is expected to be energised in 2025, targeting an asset life of at least 50 years. This announcement sets another key milestone for the Company and further increases NextEnergy Solar Fund’s participation in the UK battery storage market.
