The solar cell parameters are as follows; Short circuit current is the maximum current produced by the solar cell, it is measured in ampere (A) or milli-ampere (mA). As can be seen from table 1 and figure 2 that the open-circuit voltage is zero when the cell is producing maximum current (ISC = 0.65 A).
The parameters in Table 2 have an explicit physical meaning intrinsic to a specific PV panel. Figure 4 presents the model V-I curves for BP Solar’s BP 3 Series 235 W panel at a cell temperature of 25◦C and solar irradiation at five levels: 1000 W/m2; 800 W/m2; 600 W/m2; 400 W/m2; and 200 W/m2 .
Manufacturers typically provide the following operational data on PV panels: the open-circuit voltage (VOC ); the short-circuit current (ISC ); the maximum power point current (IMP ) and voltage (VMP ); and the temper ature coefficients of open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current (PT and aT , respectively).
Performance ratings of PV modules are measured under standard test conditions (STC) of 1,000 W/m2 of sunlight and 25°C cell temperature. In practice, however, the intensity of sunlight is usually less than 1,000 W/m2, and the cell temperature is typically hotter than 25°C.
