Performance and Durability Requirements (Article 10) Article 10 of the regulation mandates that from 18 August 2024, rechargeable industrial batteries with a capacity exceeding 2 kWh, LMT batteries, and EV batteries must be accompanied by detailed technical documentation.

The proposal seeks to introduce mandatory requirements on sustainability (such as carbon footprint rules, minimum recycled content, performance and durability criteria), safety and labelling for the marketing and putting into service of batteries, and requirements for end-of-life management.

non-rechargeable portable batteries of general use by the end of 2027 (instead of 2030), including the setting of ecodesign requirements. From 1 January 2023, such batteries must be marked with a label informing the consumers that they are 'non-rechargeable'. The report allows for battery replacement by end-users.
