GEA’s energy progress has helped to address rising electricity demands and enhanced access to renewable energy supply across local communities. GEA supported the implementation of a massive electrification project to supply, deliver and distribute 30,000 Solar Home Energy Systems to Hinterland and riverine communities in Guyana.
Our operations in Guyana are helping to supply the world’s energy needs by producing more than 600,000 barrels of oil a day. The Gas-to-Energy project is expected to greatly improve the quality of life for the people of Guyana.
GEA supported the implementation of a massive electrification project to supply, deliver and distribute 30,000 Solar Home Energy Systems to Hinterland and riverine communities in Guyana. A total of 26,398 units were distributed as of December 2023.
The gas to power project will have significant transformational benefits for Guyana: The gas to power project is expected to support diversification and a competitive economy. Investment in gas to power generation to lower electricity prices could foster development in new industries and sectors.
The gas to energy project includes a pipeline that will bring associated gas from offshore ExxonMobil’s Guyana operated Liza Phase 1 and Phase 2 projects to onshore gas-processing facilities. The project will allow for a lower cost, cleaner and more reliable energy source for Guyana,” a sign at the entrance states.
This agile responsiveness to its petroleum infrastructure and workforce needs integrated with foreign partnerships, investments and skills transfer is a harbinger of how Guyana can manage complex infrastructure projects, such as the Gas to Energy one and how competitive it can get on the global market.
