Energy storage facility of a cumulative installed capacity of 384 MW, storage capacity allowing a net annual electricity generation of 250 GWh. The storage will consist of several smaller units (~32-64MW) located in Slovakia (central Europe).
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2024, with production starting in the second quarter of 2026 and reaching full capacity by 2027. The Slovakian Ministry of Economy has agreed to grant subsidies, provide land, prepare the construction site, and secure the connection to the electricity grid.
The news came after Gotion said in September that it aims to build a battery plant in Middle Europe with Inobat, of which it has acquired a 25% strategic stake. According to the MoU signed on Wednesday, GIB plans to begin constructing the factory in 2024. The Slovak government will offer subsidies to the project and arrange the land.
