Even though several reviews of energy storage technologies have been published, there are still some gaps that need to be filled, including: a) the development of energy storage in China; b) role of energy storage in different application scenarios of the power system; c) analysis and discussion on the business model of energy storage in China.
It also introduces the application scenarios of energy storage on the power generation side, transmission and distribution side, user side and microgrid of the power system in detail. Section 3 introduces six business models of energy storage in China and analyzes their practical applications.
The large-scale development of energy storage technologies will address China’s flexibility challenge in the power grid, enabling the high penetration of renewable sources. This article intends to fill the existing research gap in energy storage technologies through the lens of policy and finance.
