To shrink a heat shrink around a battery, first, do not try to bend the protection pcb on the "naked" battery. Next, put the new heat shrink onto the battery, leaving about 3 mm extra at each end. Apply heat using a heat gun, rotating the battery and swiping the heat gun back and forth. Be careful with your fingers when using a real heat gun.
