8. Outlook Within the scope of this review, the concept of air cooled battery thermal management systems for electric vehicles have been presented. Classification criteria of all other BTMS methods have been briefly highlighted; while benefits and drawbacks of air cooled BTMS in comparison with other EV cooling strategy have been discussed.
From the extensive research conducted on air cooling and indirect liquid cooling for battery thermal management in EVs, it is observed that these commercial cooling techniques could not promise improved thermal management for future, high-capacity battery systems despite several modifications in design/structure and coolant type.
The battery thermal management system with air cooling is widely used in EVs owing to its advantages such as low cost, simple structure, easy installation, and maintenance, as well as the lower weight of the overall system and lack of leakage when compared with other cooling techniques .
Thermal modeling of air-cooled battery module The performance of the LiBs pack strongly depends on the temperature profile of individual battery cell and pack, hence the heat generation and the temperature profile analysis plays a vital role in the design of a BTMS.
Therefore, the three inlets configuration with the inlet air temperature of 25 °C can be proposed as a standard design for a battery pack air-cooling system.
